June 27-July 4 - Yellowstone! We can't possibly say anything about Yellowstone that hasn't already been said, but that won't stop us. We've been to Yellowstone three or four times before, and it's our favorite National Park (at least of those we've seen). We based at the Grizzly RV Resort in West Yellowstone. Between the time we checked in and the time we'd parked and hooked up all the utilities, a significant wildfire was spotted just a couple of miles from the RV park. Much smoke for several days, but no loss of life or residence within the 4000 acres burned. But we had kind of a front row seat watching the planes and helicopters dropping their water loads. We spent at least part of every day in the park, revisiting some places and finding a couple of places we'd not been before. Yellowstone can speak for itself through the pictures in the slide show. We cut from almost 1,000 down to just over 200 we especially like. Travel tip: The Running Bear Pancake House has the best breakfast in West Yellowstone. We've eaten there three years running, and have yet to be seated without a wait. And they've almost doubled their space this year. We'd planned on a late breakfast after church, but by the time we got there there were about 60 Presbyterians already in line, so we went back on Monday. From West Yellowstone, it's just about 60 miles north to the Big Sky Resort, and we headed there the morning of July 4 for the first Big Sky Folk Harp Festival. Click here for the Big Sky report. From Big Sky, we headed to Rapid City, SD - our new "home". There are over 200 pictures in this year's Yellowstone slide show. If you want more images from Yellowstone, check out our slide shows from last year. Otherwise, the slide show for this leg of our life is here.
